Q: What is the Japanese Straight Perm?
The Japanese Straight Perm is for someone who wants permanent straight hair. The product was manufactured and first introduced in Japan, and is now in demand worldwide. The process requires only trained and experienced professionals in order to achieve great results.
If you have wavy to overly curly hair, this product will work on you.
Q: What kind of product is used for the hair straightening?
I use the Japanese product called Yuko.
Q: Will the straight perm solution damage my hair?
The product is safe. It's the person performing the treatment you should worry about. You need to make sure the person you go to has completed a Yuko Academy Training Class, is experienced, and is using Yuko products.
Getting the straight perm is no difference than getting any other kind of chemical services. For example, If the bleach or the color is left on the hair too long, the hair gets damaged. The same applies to the straight perm solution. The timing is different with each chemical service. With the straight perm, the hair needs to be checked every 5 to 15 minutes once the perm solution is applied to make sure the hair is not over processed. All chemical services require the close attention of a trained and experienced hair dresser. So really, the only difference with the chemical hair straightening is that it is a long process. You need to make sure you have 4-6 hours to spend at the salon.
I have done the treatment on so many women and my experience is that the result was always healthier, shinier hair than before the treatment. And the hair stays healthy and shiny. I never do the treatment without doing a strand test first. It's important.
Q: Is it safe to do the treatment with color and/or highlights on my hair?
Yes, with the use of the perm solution for color treated hair.
It's very important that you let me know what's currently on your hair or what's been done to it in the last year in order for me to decide which solution to use, or whether the treatment is safe for your hair. Most women are not sure what kind of chemical was previously applied on their hair or how strong (10,20,30, or 40 volume developer?). Therefore a strand test is required.
Q: Is it safe to color or highlight my hair after the treatment?
I recommend a minimum of two weeks before getting highlights or coloring your hair.
Q: How long does the straight perm last for?
Six to Eight months or depending on how fast your hair grows. Only the roots or the new growth needs to be treated.
Q: How long is the process?
The process takes between four to six hours depending on how long or thick your hair is.
Q: How should I take care of my hair after the treatment?
Do not wash or wet your hair for at least 72 hours(3 days) after the treatment. Leave your hair down and try not to tie or fold it for at least a week. Hair breakage occurs by tying the hair too tight too soon. The best way to take care of your hair is: Condition, condition, & condition. Use leave-in-treatment if you dont have the time or money to visit a salon.
Q: Is there anything else I should know before coming in for the treatment?
Yes. please do not flat-iron your hair before the strand test, or your appointment time. It's difficult to correctly analyze the hair if it's been ironed out.
The product works the best on dry and clean hair. Please be sure your hair is free of any products by washing it before the treatment. This is a long process so washing your hair before your appointment time will help speed up the process. If you did not get a chance to wash your hair, please let me know and I will gladly do it for you.
Q: What will I benefit from having permanent straight hair?
Imagine waking up every morning looking like you just stepped out of a beauty salon. No more wasting time flat-ironing or blow-drying, instead, you will save yourself time and money, and who doesn't want that?
